British Open Portrush

Premium Golf Ireland are delighted with the announcement that Royal Portrush has been announced as the venue for the 148th British Open in 2017. The last time the event was held in Ireland was almost 70 years ago in 1951 when Englishman Max Faulkner got to lift the famous Claret Jug.
The course shares the same hometown as major champion Graeme McDowell and other members include British Open champion Darren Clarke.

World Number 1 and former Open winner Rory McIlroy has added “Royal Portrush is one of my favourite golf courses in the world. I think it will be a fantastic Open venue. “
It is expected to be the biggest sporting event ever held in Northern Ireland and lawmakers predict an economic boost of £70 million.
